Meet Haley (Contractor)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and I am eager to empower and support you towards your healing journey.

I am Haley Peterson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 9 years of experience working in the mental health field. I completed my Masters in Social Work (MSW) at Fordham University and have work experience in residential care, homeless shelters, high schools, intensive in-home psychiatric services, adoption, foster care, and Intensive Outpatient therapy (IOP) all in the efforts to get well rounded exposure to be the best therapist I can be for my clients.  My areas of expertise include working with adolescents, young adults, adults, families, and couples in a counseling relationship in areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, parenting problems, shame, career planning, improving relationships, and more.

Therapy is self-care, something most of us have a hard time doing. I recognize that many of my clients are using a small portion of their free time to work with me to better themselves. In knowing that, I want you to feel relaxed and safe to talk about whatever it is you would like to with the confidence that working with me will make a positive impact on how you process your past, experience your day-to-day life, and how it is you hope to be, think, and feel moving forward.

I look at therapy as interactive and collaborative team work where are working toward the same goal, bettering you! I do that by helping those that reach out figure out what it is they want to work on (sometimes we don’t really know what’s wrong, we just know something is wrong and that’s ok!); setting goals and discussing how they are going to accomplish them; recognizing and addressing barriers; examining how they are getting in their own way and how their environment, choices, and relationships are impeding on their success and happiness. I believe the only way to do that productively is in a judgement free, honest, respectful, compassionate, and accepting environment. My approach to therapy combines motivational interviewing, cognitive- behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic therapy with a little hint of what I believe to be the best concepts of other modalities and perspectives as well.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!
